LeClair Organics variation of the traditional espresso martini is with 1 ounce vodka, 1 ounce rum, 1 ounce espresso coffee, 1/3 ounce demerara sugar syrup and a garnish of 3 coffee beans.  Shake vigorously with ice and double strain before serving.  A strongly recommended option is to utilize an egg white in the recipe as well for an added smooth texture.  We prefer to use premium specialty coffee and premium spirits to enhance the drink and therefore we remove sugary coffee liqueurs from the recipe.

The popular story to the invention of the original espresso martini was from Dick Bradsell, whom claims a model made a specific request for a drink that would “Wake me up, and then fuck me up.” Now this is all anecdotal evidence, however this definitely kickstarted the trend to popularize the drink.  The espresso martini is now classified as an IBA official cocktail and has become one of the most popular cocktails in the world.

LeClair Organics has made a list of our top 10 best espresso martini recipes for many variations.  We believe that the traditional recipe is just a base for many creative coffee cocktail enhancements.  Variations may include using espresso combined with various base spirits such as calvados, vodka, cognac, canadian whiskey, Grand Marnier, Gin, Amaro Montenegro, Rum, amaro lucano, scotch or amaretto.  We believe that coffee cocktails should have equivalent care and consideration to quality as your local barista would.  By carefully selecting specialty coffees such as Arabica coffee, robusa coffee, liberica coffee, excelsa coffee or racemosa coffee based on origin story, country, elevation, processing method and specific.  LeClair Organics utilizes its own unique specialty liberica coffee for our signature “Liberica Espresso Martini” recipes.  Being from Canada, we have an affinity for utilizing local Canadian distilleries spirits in our coffee cocktails.
