Sicilian Amaro Coffee Cocktail
The Sicilian Amaro Coffee Cocktail Recipe:
- 1/2 cup (4 oz) Iced Liberica Coffee
- 1/1/2 oz Amaro Averna
- 1 oz Rum
- 1/3 oz Local Honey Syrup
- A few dashes citrus bitters
- Citrus Garnish
- Optional: substitute iced liberica coffee for an espresso shot and serve in a chilled coupe glass
For this original coffee cocktail creation mix the coffee, rum, Averna Amaro and citrus bitters with ice and stir with a cocktail spoon. Pour & into an old fashioned or rocks glass. Serve with your variation of expressed citrus garnish or citrus wedge.
I’ve recommended Amaro Averna for this amaro coffee cocktail. The amaro averna has been an amaro recipe from Sicily, Italy since 1886. This amaro is for the most part widely available and should have no problem finding it in your common liquor store. For this particular coffee cocktail recipe we used Traditional Citrus Bitter which is widely available in Saskatchewan locally in Regina and Saskatoon. It’s also available to order across Canada from the Toronto based one stop shop for everything cocktail oriented “Cocktail Emporium”. The citrus bitters are a great local Saskatchewan addition and will add the additional complexity of flavours to this drink.
