Saskatoon Coffee, Black Russian Cocktail Variation
For this Black Russian coffee cocktail variation we are slightly modifying the original recipe. The original recipe is a very simple 2 ingredient cocktail of vodka and coffee liqueur. The type of coffee liqueur normally used is essentially rum mixed with sugar and concentrated arabica coffee. As a Saskatoon founded company, we decided to modify the recipe utilizing local Saskatchewan ingredients including our liberica coffee. We are instead replacing the coffee liqueur with our iced Saskatoon coffee plus a premium rum, local honey or simple syrup as a sweetener. As well we have particularly chosen a local Saskatchewan made product Deuce Vodka to finalize the ingredient list.
Black Russian Recipe
2 oz chilled espresso
1 1/2 oz Rum
1 1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz honey syrup, simple syrup, demerara sugar/syrup
This is a very simple recipe that involves limited preparation and ingredients. If you do not have an espresso machine, replace with a strong concentrated brew of coffee. Optional to pre-chill your espresso to limit any melt dilution with ice. Shake ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour into your highball glass that is filled with ice.
This is an easy recipe to adapt per your personal preference. If you prefer to have a sweeter or less boozy drink, simply add more sugar and coffee.
