The Cognac & Liberica Espresso Martini uses a combination of our Liberica Espresso, premium cognac, egg white and just a touch of demerara syrup if needed per taste. Substitute the traditional espresso martini’s vodka instead with a premium cognac and liberica beans. This will be an exceptional modification of your traditional espresso martini recipe. The complexity of flavours makes for one of our personal favourite coffee cocktail creations.
1 oz Liberica Espresso
2 oz, premium cognac
1/4 oz demerara syrup or sugar
1 egg white,
3 liberica bean garnish
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail mixer. Shake vigorously, double strain and pour into a martini glass. Just as the traditional espresso martini you may put 3 liberica coffee beans as a garnish. The liberica coffee bean is about 1/3 larger than a common Arabica and has a signature teardrop shape. The liberica bean will be visually distinct as a cocktail garnish.
Cognac is a variety of brandy. To be officially classified as a Cognac there are very particular growing regions and processing methods that must be followed. For this particular drink recipe, we used the classy Remmy Martin VSOP and the flavour profile is highly a desirable combination in this cocktail. There are many local Canadian brandy’s that will also pair with this recipe quite well. Perhaps Canadian brandy’s to choose from may include from Okanagan spirits .
