LeClair Organics recently has done some experimental coffee cocktails with Amaro Montenegro and our Liberica Coffee Bean. This amaro uses a complex secret blend of 40 botanicals. The recipe originating from Bologne, Italy apparently unchanged since 1885. This amaro brings a complexity of notable flavours such as vanilla, bitter orange, orange peel, nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon, and subtle eucalyptus. It sounded as if it had potential to mix with our Liberica quite well. However, with such a complex flavour profile it is hard to predict if the combination would be a match. The balance of Liberica and Amaro Montenegro was actually an exceptional pairing! I would have to say that the two combined may be one of my favourite pairings so far to date. The added texturization of the egg white provided a nice finish to the overall experience.
Additional sweetness is not necessary for this recipe. The Amaro Montenegro is already quite sweet as it is and should be enough.
